UK China TradeSourcing / Supplier ManagementUK buyer perspective / China-side action
Sourcing, supplier management and quality follow-up in China for UK product businesses that need more control than a supplier list can provide.
01 / The operating premise
UK China Trade supports product businesses with practical sourcing, supplier communication, quality planning and order follow-up in China. The focus is clear: translate commercial requirements into actions factories can understand, execute and evidence.
Founder profile
Carl BallantineFounder / China-side sourcing lead02 / Experience behind the work
UK China Trade is led by Carl Ballantine, a China-based sourcing and trade professional with more than 10 years of on-the-ground experience across project management, senior trade-company operations, AGM and lithium-battery sales, supplier-facing account management and international order execution.
Carl helps UK product businesses turn China sourcing requirements into clear factory, supplier and shipment actions. His work combines practical trade, project-management and battery-sector experience with direct client-agent work since 2018.
03 / What we do
Support is designed around the practical points that matter to buyers: supplier evidence, product clarity, quality decisions, production milestones and structured follow-through.
Find, compare and clarify appropriate supplier routes against a real product brief, including factory identity, capability and evidence questions.
Translate product requirements into a usable supplier brief, quote comparison and decision process before commitment.
Bring structure to samples, acceptance criteria, factory updates, inspection points and problem escalation.
Prepare a focused fair visit, supplier shortlist or in-person factory discussion around a commercial purpose.

04 / Who we work with
UK China Trade is most useful when a UK product business needs someone on the China side to move a live product, supplier, quality or delivery decision forward.
Businesses managing regular product flows that need firmer supplier communication, order coordination and shipment follow-up.
Owners looking for an organised route from product brief and sample through supplier choice and production.
Technical product businesses where product evidence, supplier capability and quality discipline need closer attention.
Buyers seeking a China-side second opinion on an existing factory, quality issue, late order or new sourcing route.

05 / How work moves
Set the product, supplier, quality or delivery issue that actually needs resolving.
Check capability, product information, supplier responses and commercial assumptions.
Turn decisions into clear factory actions, milestones and written approvals.
Follow quality, shipment and next-step questions through to a usable buyer outcome.
06 / Common sourcing questions
Good sourcing decisions usually come from better questions, not faster supplier lists.
Download supplier checklist →Confirm the legal entity, manufacturing address, product capability, key processes and outsourced steps. A trading company can still be useful, but a buyer should understand who controls the product and production work.
Align the written specification, agreed sample, commercial quote, MOQ, lead time, payment stages, packaging, inspection plan and shipment terms before production begins.
Yes. Existing supplier work can include clarifying a specification, chasing evidence, planning quality checks, resolving a production issue or bringing structure to regular orders and factory communication.
After the initial 30-minute call, we identify the decision or deliverable that needs support: for example supplier shortlisting, factory verification, product sourcing, quality follow-up, existing-order support or Guangzhou meeting preparation. You then receive a written scope covering the objective, activities, timing, information needed and agreed fee before any paid work begins. There is no obligation to proceed after the initial call.
Not in every case. A fair visit is most valuable when it supports a defined product brief, supplier shortlist or factory meeting plan rather than broad browsing.
The importing business must understand and meet its own UK market obligations. UK China Trade can help collect supplier information and support a quality plan, but it does not replace specialist legal, certification or testing advice.

Start with one useful conversation
It could be an existing factory that needs a second opinion, a new product that needs a credible supplier route, or a Canton Fair requirement that deserves more than an informal walkaround.
